Yasiel Puig is the National League Player of the Week.

A five-homer weekend from Puig helped the Dodgers take three of four games against the Cardinals. It also helped the Dodger outfielder earn his third career NL Player of the Week Award and first since May 2014.

Puig batted .429/.500/1.190 with five home runs, a double, three walks, nine RBI, seven runs and a stolen base, finishing the week first among NL players in batting average, home runs, RBI, slugging and total bases (25).

It marks the second time this season a Dodger player was awarded Player of the Week honors, after Matt Kemp took home the award June 3. The award for Puig comes two weeks after Justin Turner was named NL Player of the Month in August.

Puig hit his five home runs in a span of fewer than 24 hours, the first two helping the Dodgers squeak out a 3–0 win Friday and the last three part of the Dodgers’ 17–4 stomping Saturday.

The Saturday performance marked career highs for Puig in both home runs (three) and RBI (seven). The back-to-back performances marked the first time since Shawn Green on May 23–24, 2002, that a Dodger player hit five homers in consecutive games.
