Dave Roberts will receive the Tommy Lasorda Managerial Achievement Award at the 14th annual Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation’s “In the Spirit of the Game” fundraiser at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 14.

In addition, Rachel Robinson will be honored with the foundation’s Pioneer Award, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of her husband Jackie breaking the color line in Major League Baseball when he started for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947.

Stan Kasten stands with 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award honoree Maury Wills.

The foundation was started and continues to be led by Dennis Gilbert, who has helped raise over $1.7 million for baseball scouts. Last year’s event honored Gilbert as well as Joe Torre, Maury Wills, Andre Dawson, Terry Collins, Bill White, Roland Hemond and Larry King.

Roberts, who was named National League Manager of the Year in November, took the Dodgers within two games of the World Series in his first year as skipper. Previous managers to receive the Lasorda award include Terry Collins, Dusty Baker, Bruce Bochy, Don Mattingly, Jim Leyland, Mike Scioscia, Gene Mauch, Bobby Cox, Whitey Herzog, Tony LaRussa and Bobby Valentine.
