Dodgers avoid arbitration with Bellinger, Seager, Urías, Floro
by Rowan Kavner
The Dodgers announced they avoided arbitration with Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, Julio Urías and Dylan Floro, agreeing to terms on one-year contracts for the 2021 season.
They did not settle with Walker Buehler and Austin Barnes before Friday’s deadline.
So, now what? The two sides can still work out a deal, which is what happened in February 2020 with Max Muncy and Chris Taylor on multi-year extensions, or head to arbitration. Buehler is eligible for arbitration as a Super Two player, while Barnes is in his second year as an arbitration-eligible player.
Buehler went 1–0 with a 3.44 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in eight regular season starts and had a 1.80 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 25 innings across five postseason starts in 2020. Barnes slashed .244/.353/.314 with one home run in 29 regular season games and hit .320/.393/.440 with one home run across 10 postseason appearances.
