Last weekend, the Angels claimed catcher Chad Wallach from the Dodgers and designated catcher Anthony Bemboom for assignment. Today, the Dodgers claimed Bemboom from the Angels.

The Dodgers also claimed right-handed pitcher and Santa Monica native Conner Greene from the Orioles. To make room on the roster for both players, the Dodgers transferred left-handed pitchers Clayton Kershaw and Danny Duffy to the 60-day injured list.

Kershaw was placed on the IL on July 7 with left forearm inflammation, while Duffy was placed on the IL on July 20 with a left flexor strain. Kershaw would be eligible to return in early September, while Duffy would be eligible in the middle of September.

Will Smith and Austin Barnes were the only two catchers on the 40-man roster prior to adding Bemboom, who played in eight games for the Angels this year and went 6-for-27 with two RBI. He has spent parts of three seasons in the Majors with the Angels and Rays, posting a .187/.241/.287 slash line with four home runs in 54 games. The 31-year-old will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City. He was hitting .255/.364/.482 with seven home runs in 40 games at Triple-A Salt Lake this year.

Greene was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Aug. 7 after allowing six runs in three relief appearances this year. The 26-year-old former 2013 seventh-round pick of the Blue Jays made his Major League debut for Baltimore on July 27, allowing one run in two innings while striking out two. In his eight-year minor league career, Greene is a combined 40–48 with a 4.34 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. He has started 120 of his 181 minor league games.
