Jaime Jarrín, the longtime Spanish-language voice of the Dodgers, is among this year’s nominees for the Radio Hall of Fame.

The 24 nominees for 2020 induction come from a total of six categories. Jarrín is nominated in the category of “Active Network/Syndication (10 years or more).”

Jarrín has been calling Dodger games since 1959. In 2018, he became the 12th Dodger to join the club’s Ring of Honor. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998 as the recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award, becoming only the second Spanish-language announcer to achieve the honor, joining Buck Canel.

Industry voting in four of the categories, including Jarrín’s, begins July 13. Listener voting in the other two categories begins July 20. Inductees will be announced on Aug. 17. The induction ceremony will be a live radio broadcast from multiple locations this October, as a result of COVID-19 health and safety concerns.

Nominees were determined by the organization’s Nominating Committee, following suggestions from radio professionals across the country. The nominees in the four industry-voted categories will be voted on by a participant panel comprised of 600 industry professionals, who will receive confidential ballots from online voting service Votem. The winners in the two listener-voted categories will be determined by the public, who will also vote via Votem, and the Radio Hall of Fame Nominating Committee. The outcome of the listener vote will count as one vote among the committee votes.
