Vin Scully is one of 12 finalists announced by Sports Illustrated today for its annual Sportsperson of the Year Award.

Scully was listed along with nine other individuals — Simone Biles, Usain Bolt, Steph Curry, LeBron James, Jimmie Johnson, Katie Ledecky, Von Miller, Michael Phelps, Breanna Stewart — and two teams, Leicester City F.C. and the Chicago Cubs.

“The bard of baseball put down his microphone after 67 years in the booth, a career that saw the 88-year-old Scully interact with Connie Mack and Corey Seager,” SI writes. “We will never see another like him. Scully worked alone for much of his time as a commentator and was rightfully feted for his years as a poet-philosopher, the most beloved person in baseball, now and forever.”

SI is holding a reader vote, though that vote doesn’t determine the winner.

Scully left today for his trip to Washington D.C. to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday. The legendary broadcaster received an honor of a different sort Sunday.
